Jerry,
Completely agree! Can't wait till NX6 dies in my company. I'll let users get used to new functions before I throw the ribbon at em... maybe ~9 months time we can look at TC10/NX10.
I stumbled upon a clue to test with on the linked dual dims. Wanted to share it here to spark some...
Did NX export this? or are you writing it freehand? If freehand, try recording a journal in VBA format and clicking through the steps manually. There may be some mundane detail that stands out when you compare the two files.
Thnx,
Ryan
Hello All,
Anyone have experience with linked dual dims? I'm trying to get
mm [inch] format with max over min limits however the tolerance range is variable so I have it linked to an expression in the model.
NX isn't picking up on the unit difference in the default dual dim dialog. I'm...
Hello,
Need some help. In the attached sample assy/drawing you'll see that the diameter shown has no extension lines. This seems to only happen when there are features in the assembly. If we create this same assy with the over-molded rubber as a component, the extension line will show.
Any...
Thanks Gents!
John,
I'll try to get some specifics from the location that makes these springs.
Taylor,
Yes, is the answer to both questions... However I'll run with what I can get. Eventually it will fit inside a groove of a seal like in your first picture... however free state of spring...
John,
Thank you. Any easier in NX8.5? I'd even be happy with something in NX10 that I can modify.
even if parametric isn't going to happen, could you guide me with the values in your current law? Also, is it possible to make a model slanted like the pictures?
Thanks,
Ryan
John,
Excellent, this is exactly what I asked for... however I apparently had bad examples.
Is it possible to adjust the slant in another direction? I'll attach some pictures of a sample spring I have, I hope it helps...
Hello All,
Hoping someone has a seed part or maybe some steps to follow to create a slant coil spring.
same as this website, but obviously not in solidworks.

using NX6.0.5.3 globally, soon to be NX8.5.3
Thanks,
Ryan
Hello,
I'm trying to default the tolerance set to off (un-ticked) for feature control frame... I can't seem to find the setting anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My users see different behavior from different drawing templates so I assume it is a setting within the template or...
As TC/NX Admin I LOVE the auto-dimensioning. I frequently get asked about sketches that are not yet fully constrained and the user can't find anything that is missing. On some occasions the missing constrains are to a point that is no longer needed and is perhaps away from the current geometry...
Hello,
Working on NX6.0.5.3
In the attached .prt file you'll see a simple geometry with three features (sweep along a guide, swept, extrude). I'm hoping someone can help me find a way to make the swept feature not show the extra tangent edges (smooth edges). These edges are not shown in the...
Howdy All,
Anyone know if there is a way to default symbol placement to USE DEFINITION rather than USE CURRENT?
Running NX6.0.5.3 globally but would be handy to know if anything exists in later versions as well ;)
Thanks...
Hello,
Wondering if NX has a function to fill a cell in a table.... similar to background cell fill in excel. All I've been able to come up with thus far is to trace the cells with sketch curves and then use the solid area fill. I'm thinking there should be an easier way.
Currently running...
Excellent topic! May I ask a slightly different question on the topic?
We have a part family of ≈650 parts and we are after their volumes. Measure bodies is at the bottom of the children's model tree. Is there a way to extract a table (static/snapshot is fine) of all of the volumes?
I'm...
