    If we don't use a backing band the inspector needs to see both sides and our vessels are not designed with internal access to allow that. In order to compete in our industry we cannot add manways to our vessels without pricing ourselves out of business. Thank you for the ideas!

    Bolt Specs - Grade 5 vs. SA-449

    Bolt markings are identical for SAE J429 Grade 5 and ASTM A449 Type 1. Are these specifications identical? In other words, if I buy a "Grade 5" bolt, am I automatically getting a bolt that conforms to ASTM A449?
