Hi,
I have asked this question Siemens UG NX community as well.
But, since this question is a general question related to contact analysis, I thought of asking in thsi community as well.
My mesh is of master and slave contact edges is not a confirmal mesh (i.e. the nodes of master and slave...
I'm running a contact analysis in SOL 101.
My mesh of master and slave contact edges is not a confirmal mesh (i.e. the nodes of master and slave edges / region do not coincide.
In that case, is it a good practice to define two contact pairs ? That is : one pair slecting region 1 as source and...
Further to the above,I'd like to add:
As I understand, It is possible to launch an external application from a Nastran solution using the ISHELL capability. ISHELL is a DMAP command that will invoke the external program. That program can be written in any language and is compiled separately...
I intend modifying the SOlution 106 of NX NASTRAN as I have written some external sub routines for contact and friction analysis.
I need to be able to write out the stiffness matrix, residuals and displacements at some point in the Newton-Raphson iteration, then call the CF code and read back...
Hi bkal,
Thanks. Yes, I understand that by integrating a product of the shape function (displacement interpolation function) matrix with the applied load vector over the element volume / surface we can get the nodal loads.
I just wanted to know, when the user defines a face load (on the face...
Hello,
I shall be grateful if someone can chelp me with this and I'm really desperate for the solution!
As of now, I have written a finite element program for the analysis of plates.
In the pre-processor, I have applied the loads at the nodes of the finite element (or) at the edges of the...
I have seen that some softwares have the concept of local axis of node.
I have never been able to really understand what is meant by lcoal axis of a node.
Can anyone provide insight/simple example.
I have created a Tree list through NX Open API's
I am able to get selected nodes from Tree List using API tree_control0->GetSelectedNodes();
I need to get the nodes which are displayed in treelist without selecting i.e., want to get all the nodes displayed in treelist.
Can anyone please help?
For example, see this problem
http://www.adina.com/adinadownloads/primer/prob02.pdf
It is similar, he just makes normal displacement as 0 at the 2 cutting edges.
I did id at one cutting edge.
Dear Sir,
Yes, I had prescribed symmetrical boundary conditions (i.e. the edge which is 38.1 mm has normal displacement as 0) i.e. DOF_X = 0
It did not solve..
Can you provided a sketch of what exactly u meant or the dat file? I have several models like this and am still not really getting it
Hi,
I have uploaded the dat file into the location below

Thanks,

I shall be grateful if someone can help me with this
This is the scenario I have:
This problem is a pair of opposing shallow notches in a bar subject to tension. A linear elastic, plane strain idealisation is used and the results at the peak stress position are of interest.
Please see the...
I am looking in detail at the programmers guide to work out how to access and modify NX DMAP programs from there. Basically it seems to be by modifying the the executive control section of NX input files.
Can anyone help and advise it is possible to write additional code in, say, FORTRAN or...
Can anyone advise,in what context have you used (if you have ever used) the strain energy contours in the software? What have you tried to interpret looking at the strain energy contours following a FE analysis?
I have some thoughts on interpreting these contours and would like to share with...
I had been trying to understand how the straine energy contours available in FE software contours prove useful
I had been reading this post
http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=43602
Can anyone comment on my interpretation below:
When a body is deformed, work is done. The energy used...
Sir, actually I'm not sure if I got that correctly.
I'm just applying a tangential load at the location.
I was thinking how to equilibrate that in rotation.
The frictional force will provide the horizontal equilibrium. I was wondering about the rotational equilibrium ...
