Is there an ASTM standard referring on this? EPC contractor preferred to use sand saying there is no standard test and visual inspection is enough. Sometimes, soil will be mixed with sand as binder and will not conduct FDT either.
There is something wrong I think. Please enlighten us.
guys, please refer on the attached drawing. thanks.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=7d9633d3-3a42-4a72-a6e7-6725ee2c62a2&file=Screenshot_2013-12-11_12.16.33.png
Can somebody remember the ACI code stating that vertical reinforcement shall be anchored to roof beams or structural beams. We would like to know because the EPC contractor just wanted it to have angular plate and anchored with drive pin.
Thanks for the help.
TLHS, the EPC contractor based their allowable bearing capacity (design criteria) from the conducted soil investigation during planning stage.
Is there a code reference to require them to perform foundation load test?
Soil bearing capacity (say 200KPa) is always stated on design criteria, specification and drawings. Do we need to verify for each foundation, if not, what is standard reference for this?
We normally perform PBT for foundation of buildings. What test is applicable for series of isolated...
thanks, hokie. we are looking for sound engineering practices for this. any suggestions for possible alternative or reference that can be applied for construction jointing detail?
is there a code violation if concrete casting will be done with vertical construction joint? is it structurally sound not to pour monolithically?
also, what are the measures to apply in achieving quality concrete and if permitted, construction joints?
