Sir HTURKAK
I have sample of tank design. The designer used API 650 11th edition (Section 5.1.5.9 and Annex F Fig. F-2.
The minimum participating area at roof to shell junction used by the designer is
A = [D^2/(0.432sinθ)](T/2.2)
At 12th edition
A = pD^2/8Fatanθ
I'm using 12th edition.
But...
Sir LittleInch,
My company is for indusrial. Before my company has designers for large tanks.
For now, they only have me with 1 year experience. I'm interested with this therefore I giving my best to design it.
No other engineer can help me here in my company.
Sir HTURKAK
Yes, it is fixed roof.
For top curb angle, can I use double angle and form it like a channel? Or can I use Channel diectly.
Because minimum required participating area is larger than the area provide by shell, roof plate, and angle.
Thank you.
Good day, Engineers.
I'm designing Closed Storage Tanks using API 650 - 12th Edition.
Can anyone clarify the difference between top angle and top wind girder?
Because in my understanding. For Closed Tanks, top angle must be use. The top wind girder is only for Open Tanks.
Therefore, I'm not...

National Structural Code of the Philippines.
At ASCE and IBC, stairs tread and landing live load is 100psf. Is this for public assembly building or it is also for residential house?
Engr jimstructures and hotmail box.
I used NSCP 2015, our code has no live load for stairs. Some designers here only used live load of occupancy which they are associated.
Yes I check the ASCE and IBC before.
ASCE/SEI 7 (ASCE 2016) has dead load for stairs.
IBC live load
Handrail 50lb/ft...
Nope, Sir hotmailbox, he is the draftsman and feeling architect.
I'm the engineer here and don't have the power to tell the size if treads. That is true.
Because of ego. I'm 27yrs old and he is 58yrs old.
But no age for professional. That's why I laugh hard hahaha.
He acts like a boss hahaha.
You're right Engineers. This is a very easy calculation.
But knowing only the density of the wood and not the sections, sizes of treads, handrail, etc. is very hard to imagine.
Thank you.
Hi, Sir hotmailbox and Sir jimstructures.
I only have floor plan and the stairs has no details, no section views, no sizes, etc.
Like I have said, I tried to ask the draftsman, he said "it is only a wooden stairs don't mind it. Design the concrete frame only."
Last time I ask him what kind of...
Good day, Engineers.
I'm design a 2 storey residential house. It has wooden stairs. Only a Draftsman draw the architectural plan and not an Architect.
I ask the draftman what kind of wooden stairs it is, for me to know or search the weight of it.
He replied, (Don't think about the weight of...
No, Sir. This concrete structure.
Yes, Sir. Forget about foundation. I know how to design it. I'm just asking how can I apply the wall loads to beam. The wall is partition and located at the center of slab without intermediate beam.
Hi! Good day, Engineers.
Can anyone help me how to convert wall load into floor load. Can you give me formula or can anyone explain it.
Let say, Pw is the weight of masonry wall given by the code in kPa or psf, psi.
I'm going to check if the slab can carry the masonry interior wall/partition...
