    Higher compressive strengths than required

Thanks guys for your input. It appears that it more like a shrinkage issue in the earliest setting time of concrete than any design issues. Concrete strength exceed with the time anyways for a certain period of time.

    Higher compressive strengths than required

Hi Guys, I have a concern regarding excessive compressive strength of concrete for flat slab structure. We have designed one concrete structure (2 storeys) and we are getting concrete test results of almost 65MPA (9427psi) against 35MPa (5000psi) as specified per drawings for slabs. My...

Eccentric in plane load on L shape weld

Ron, It's the same as desertfox link shows as per this image.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=855ec557-d0b0-4dc4-8b39-02edd0319307&file=eccentric_load_on_weld_group.JPG

Eccentric in plane load on L shape weld

Hi Guys, I need to check capacity of a "L" shape weld with an application of in plane eccentric load (Assuming an outrigger angle welded (L-Shape) to column with a vert load at end). Can some help with a manual calculation for this case. I have tables from code, but no hand calcs to support...

    Building under water table

Depth of exterior wall / sheet piling system below impervious layer is important. If the impervious layer is quite deep (I will attach borehole data for further idea), is it economical to go that deep or the option of continuous pumping is cheaper. Continuous Pumping of water table below...

    Building under water table

Thank you guys for your experienced and valued suggestions. We will consider the following points and wellcome further suggestion if any: * Avoiding any expansion joints in the foundation system. * There is definately a need of perimeter sheet piling system for the basement area. *...

    Building under water table

Soil mainly comprsies of silty sand and silty clay. Soil anchors or piles will act in tension for sure. The idea of water pressure outlet seems good, but is it permanent or just for temporary relief to raft during construction. It is not possible to wait for 10 storey loads to balance uplift...

    Building under water table

Normal water table is 7.5m above top of lower parking floor. City department is allowing for lowering of 1m maximum, i.e 6.5m. So final water table depth is avg. 6.5m above top of lower parking floor. Is it possible that during continue dewatering process, the nearby lake become drained. Lake...

    Building under water table

We are designing a 2- level parking structure with 10 storey structure above, which is close to a lake. Water table above raft is causing a net uplift of about 60kPa. Infact water table has to drop down below U/S of raft for construction of raft, but it can effect the lake. What would be the...

    Vibration control parameter conversion

Hi Guys, As per attchement, we have certain vibration control paramters which need to be checked and number correspond to unit given in "Nu m /sec" (correct me if it is no Nu). What is the relationship between Hertz to "Nu. m/sec". We normally check frequency for Hertz. Appreciate for your help.
