    Isokinetic sampling nozzles

They are used in steam turbines for deposition prediction http://www.steamcycle.com/corrosion_field_monitoring.htm

    Veneer Dryer

I just wanted to update the status of this post. We put the desuperheater into service and manually controlled the temperature entering the veneer dryers temperature control valve, a few degrees above saturation. Operated in this fashion for over 4 hours with no appreciable difference in steam...

    Condenser leakage using BEAMA

Check this link out, it should give you a ballpark number: http://www.gotleak.com/article.htm

    Shift development

I have worked rotating shifts for the last 20 or so years at a number of facilities. There are as many schedules out there as there are people. The most important thing to think about before deciding on a schedule is what type of work the 2 men will be doing. Can they swap roles, or is there...

    Veneer Dryer

The report offers very little in the line of technical substantiation for the recommendations. The consultants were not aware that the desuperheater had been decomissioned because of the higher production rates attained some twenty years ago. I have not had an opportunity to discuss the...

    LEAK DETECTION QUESTION

Helium leak detectors are expensive, but I've used one in a large turbine hall to look for very small leaks in piping and pressure vessels with great success. Perhaps you could rent one to try it out. Compared to soap solutions, Helium was a much quicker method.

    Veneer Dryer

The study was specific to our plant. Consultants were hired to point out general areas that would provide opportunities to save money and/or increase production. One thing I forgot to point out is the condensate return is sent to a tank at 280 psig and pumped directly to the steam drum make-up...

    Veneer Dryer

Our steam plant operates a co-gen facility. We are presently using superheated steam (320 psig & 650 F)in our veneer dryers & condensing steam turbine. A recent study suggested that we desuperheat the steam in the dryers to increase the efficiency. A desuperheater presently installed in the...

    Steam Turbine Problem

Install a gland steam pressure regulator, this will prevent a vacuum loss into the condenser as well as guard against excess steam flow in the seal which leaks into the bearing housing and the bearing oil. A lube oil cleaning system will remove the excess water from the lube oil and is standard...
