    expanding collet design - any guideline specs

    I need to design an expanding collet to fit on the arbor of a machine (so I have a stop with a retractable plunger thru the center of it) and have one that is a taper with alternating splits from each end. I can get it to tighten but not really hold without slipping. Is there a 'collet design'...
