    Pipe Elbow to Flange Connection

Hi Everyone, Is there a provision in the ASME Piping codes that restricts welding of welding neck flange connection directly to a pipe elbow fittings? If there is none, will this normally affect hydraulics in the pipeline system. Appreciate your response. Thanks.

    Rewelding of Existing Weld Joints

Thank you very much for your valuable response. The material we are using is ASTM A36 plate 10mm thick. Do you also have reference for ASME VIII Div.1 pressure vessel? What is the requirement for ASME VIII Div.1 for the same conditions?

    Rewelding Existing Weld Joints

Ok. Thank you. Follow up question: What if I weld a high strength steel plate for pressure vessel application? Will there be any special requirements for rewelding? Especially if the plate thickness is over 36mm.

    Rewelding Existing Weld Joints

Thank you for your reply metengr. Does this mean that we don't need to cut off the HAZ area? We will just clean and prepare the plate edges to undergo a new welding process?

    Rewelding of Existing Weld Joints

Hi Everyone, When an API 650 tank is dismantled and relocated to a new location, can it be welded on its existing weld joints? Or is it required to cutoff the Heat Affected Zones (approx 2in) on each sides/edges of the plate before rewelding? The API 653 only states that "the existing weld...

    Chromium on A36 Structural Plate

Thank you for your responses Swall and Mrfailure. I will be asking for actual content of their previously manufactured steel which should be also indicated in the mill certificates. But what are the other factors I can be concerned for adding an additional alloy aside from weldability?

    Chromium on A36 Structural Plate

Hi Everyone, Just want to ask if what is the effect of Cr on A36 Plate if the percentage content is 0.30%. Generally what is the effect of Cr on carbon steel and will it affect the weldability of A36 plate? Appreciate your comments and advice. Thanks
