@slickdeals when you model as a membrane element, you do not capture the true displacements and moments acting on the slab. So how do one go about analyzing and designing the slab?

Hi all, When is it most appropriate to model a concrete slab with a membrane or a shell(thin) element. For example, do you model a 150mm thick concrete slab with a membrane or shell element.

desertfox, the analysis was done at the ultimate limit state (ULS) which is 1.4*Deal load (BS8110). the shear force value is not the problem just the mirrored diagram.
