API 650 storage TANK - Socket Welds between Flange- pipe

Dear All, thanks for your replies. As I can see from code, Socket welds connection is clearly stated for nozzle to shell connection ( see Fig 5-8 c ) but not to flange-pipe connection (see fig 4.3 and par 4.6) where all other kind of flanges are showen. My question was just to understand...

API 650 storage TANK - Socket Welds between Flange- pipe

Dear All, My question is pretty simple; on Storage Tank according to APi 650 for small pipes (minus than 2") are Socket welds between Flange and pipe allowable ? As per what I can read on standard, this kind of junction is not considered. I kindly ask your support! Regards

    European Code- P275NL1 above 100 ¦C.

Dear All, I would like to inform you all that at the end the material used was the P275NL1 and the properties at high temperature taken from EN 13445-2 par 4.2.2.2,table 4.2-1 where factor for derating are listed. As per par. it's not a good practice to use this low temperature materials at...

    European Code- P275NL1 above 100 ¦C.

dear all, thank you for your interesting replies. XL83Nl is right.I must use the standard for pressure plate. so EN 10028-3. The problem, and the reason why I posted my question is that in this standard there is nothing about how this grade Nl1 works above 100°C. i don't know where I can take...

    European Code- P275NL1 above 100 ¦C.

thank you ! this is for pressure pipe...on the pressure plate...nothing...but anyway I think the behaviour with T depends on material category..thank you!

    European Code- P275NL1 above 100 ¦C.

denlow60 your reply sounds to me obvious and useless.you could have avoided it. Thanks Ulyssess for your reply.your suggestion is something that can fit for my problem. Anyway, there are no constraints to use Nl1 material for these temperatures, aren't they?

    European Code- P275NL1 above 100 ¦C.

Dear All, we have to design a vessel where P275 NL1 have been chosen for the shell/head plates. Design temperatures are -35°C / +130 °C. How is possible to obtain the " MINIMUM VALUES FOR THE PROOF STRENGHT RP0,2 AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES" ? The reference standard EN 10028 has no info about...

Saddle Design - PV Elite 2013 and Zick Analysis

Dear All, I am designing different Horizontal Vessels and I have to position and design 2 horizontal Saddles. I am following Zick Analysis Method described in ASME VIII div 2 and I choosing typical saddle dimensions as already included into PV ELITE Software according to Dennis Moss Design...

Shell to Roof junction verification according to API 650 for Roof Weight.

Dear JStephen, Thank you for your post. My case is the first one that you have mentioned. So,as I have thought,API doesn't face this problem and I should check on the Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain. Thank you for you suggestion!

Shell to Roof junction verification according to API 650 for Roof Weight.

Dear fegenbush, thanks again, but, maybe my question is a bit different,I'll try to explain better. My tank D=22.5m H=15.2m, last shell course is 6mm, the top angle ring is 120x120x10,the weight of roof plates is 20000kg and rafter weight is 12000kg. The roof is rafter supportd roof. P=0. How...

Shell to Roof junction verification according to API 650 for Roof Weight.

Dear Fegenbush, thank for your suggestion, but sections 5.10.5.2 and 5.10.6.2 are for self supported roof, Do these sections work also for rafter supported cone? Which section should I consider for this kind of roof? Thank you

Shell to Roof junction verification according to API 650 for Roof Weight.

Dear All, I design storage roof tanks according to API 650 appendix F. My question is : according to section F.5.1 we can calculate the resisting Area required at the junction when we have established the internal pressure. But,Does API 650 prescribe how to verify if the junction is able to...

    Working Volume and Nominal Capacity

Thank you guys, I exactly know the different codes and difference between Storage tank and pressure vessel,it was just an example,I tought you could understand an extrapolation from my post, because API 650 clearly talks about this difference between Working Volume and Nominal Volume; probably I...

    Working Volume and Nominal Capacity

Dear All, first of all thank you for your help and your suggestions. You gave me good points to think about it. It's first time in our department we are developping pressure vessel design,so we are facing for the first time these problems. My question was a little bit different,I try to explain...
