Relationship of density and laminate modulus

ok, no worries yongs modulus of elasticity (E) is inherent to the material it will not change - for carbon it is in the regon of E=240GN/m2 this is a constant for the "fibbre" if you have half the numbers of fibbres then the stress (load/Area) will double as the area is now smaller for a given...

Relationship of density and laminate modulus

if i understand your question correctlly then the answers yes. so long as the fibres are the same, the weave is the same, the matix, the curing and handeling then yes the modulus will be the same. the flexural stiffness will of caurse change with the secondmonent of area. if however what you...

    Cutting Kevlar

yes try running the blade of a band saw backwards, so the teath are up side down. this compresses the arimid fibres so they cant shear longditudinaly. its commonly done in our composites lab. hope its not to late.

Waterski Cost effective composite with a high strength to weight ratio

hi i have a friend doing surf science (sound like a lazy course i know, but it aint)he recons its posible to create stringers out of the top or bottom layers of fibre simply by formingthem in to a U shape. it a bit tricky to discribe, but simply its a chanal running the lendth of the bored which...

    Cracks, and their conception

Wedwin, Polyurethane will not bond to epoxy or itself, use epoxy again. But think hard abount how to remove the wax befor you try reworking. if any is left in the crack tip it will form another stress consentration. my understanding of a crack in any fibre composite is that the stress...
