    Treatment of hard water with polyphosphates

    I would be extremely carefull of adding anything to water that is or could possibly be used as drinking water. Softeners are acceptable but any chemical addition might cause legal problems if the water ended up in the drinking supply. Also DI beds are a hot bio growth area.
