    Saddle without ribs?

Pressure is low, vessel is relatively small. Short of the saddles being 3 meters tall, inside ribs would be excessive and a waste of parts and hours.

Figure UW-16.1 Cat. D joint design

I have a vessel 2.5" thick, P1 Gr. 2, and I want to weld the manway, also P1 Gr. 2, in with a partial penetration joint, either details (i), (j), (k). Concerns exist (not mine) that the void in this nozzle has pressure during the stress relief cycle. Applying the gas law, with a fixed volume...

API 12F vs. API 650 and anchors

Using a 210 BBL, design pressure of 16 oz. from Table 1 of API 12F, OD is 120" and height is 15'. Floor is 1/4" thick, shells are 3/16" and roof is 1:12 slope and also 3/16" thick. I chose a 210 BBL as the floor and shell thicknesses would be equivalent to an App. J tank of API 650. I am well...

    Crane Deflection Requirements

I am going to be putting a 10 ton and a 5 ton crane on a 52' span. As I am a MechE, the structural code is new to me (CSA S16.1), and I am curious as to the reasoning behind a 1/800 deflection limit. This seems excessive as stresses become non-existent with this requirement.
