    Substitute for vegetable fiber gasket

I have an control oil system. Normal pressure is 150 psig and 200degrees F. Oil is used for controlling valves on a Turbine. The oil is always found on the floor (10-15gal over 3 months). Need to find a substitute for vegetable fiber gasket. Anybody has any suggestion. THanks

    increasing Vibrations

The spoolpiece is a rigid steel piece but it is bolted to the coupling. The process fluid through the pump is around 350-400'F. Eventhough the room has a air cooler, just above the pump where the coupling and the spoolpiece is situated (inside a 10ft canister) does get heated up not upto 300'F...

    increasing Vibrations

Electricpete has a good suggesation. However, here is what we did. We found the spool piece (extension between motor and pump coupling) was out of alignment (20 thou or 0.020). The out of alignment was due to bolts that were used to connect the spool piece. This caused the spool piece to shift...

    increasing Vibrations

The coupling is not grease packed. In order to make sure the isulating plate is not coming loose we ran uncoupled and found the vibs are steady and in the range of 0.04-0.045ips. Also the coupling is not grease packed.

    increasing Vibrations

The vibration is at running speed. Vertical motor. Vibs are high in A2 direction, no axial shift, temperature of the fluid is 350'F. No change in temp. The pump is underground. Motor is mounted on a can 5-10ft over the pump. If you think it is thermal bow is there any other way to verify this...

    increasing Vibrations

We recently refurbished a 1750hp motor as part of Preventative Maintenance. After the installation of motor the vibs increased from 0.2ips to 0.63ips over 7 hour period. The problem was assiciated with the insulation plate. After fixing the insulation plate the uncoupled motor vibs were 0.065ips...

Oil level in the vertical motor lower bearing

We have not noticed any foaming. The standstill oil level mark will 1/2 submerge the bearing. The operating level is not suppose to change much however, we are noticing 1/2" increase.

Oil level in the vertical motor lower bearing

I have large (1750 hp)vertical AC motor on a pump. The oil gauge has standstill level and operating level bands. Before starting the motor the oil level was at the middle of standstill level however, after starting the motor the oil is 1/2" higher than top of the operating level band. No leaks...

Need vibration limits on large AC vertical motors

The vibration analysis shows only one variable sine curve. We assume it may be due to imbalance. The bearings appear to be in good shape (based on sine curve). We did recommend 0.7ips as cut off vibs to remove pump from service. The vibs at present are stable at 0.5ips. We will try to balance in...

Need vibration limits on large AC vertical motors

Motor was balanced before installation. One time motor tripped due to ground fault, second time it tripped due to blackout (08/14/2003). Motor also has a Mechanical Seal.

Need vibration limits on large AC vertical motors

I have a large AC motor (1750HP, 1800 rpm) installed vertically. every time it trips the vibs goes up by 0.1ips Started with 0.3ips after two trips 0.5ips. how long can I continue before s/d the motor and get it balanced.
