    Can anyone help me how to calculate von mises stresses in beam elements ( i/m using beam188 in ansys) ? maybe some books or links where i can find ? von Mises stress = (0.5*((s1-s2)^2+(s2-s3)^2+(s3-s1)^2))^0.5 according to definition, becouse s2 and s3 are 0 von miss=s1=sx is it correct? regards

    hello all, i'm doing nonlinear transient analysis on model which is made with beam188 elements. I'm little bit confused what kind of stresses and strain should i take ...? does anyone have experience with this type of element? regards aleks

    Hello , i hope that i'm in right location ansys forum :) Does anyone knows how to obtain the time history of von mises stress and strain for particular element in model using beam188 elements type. when i use esol,2,31,36,s,eqv,vonmis in time history post processor there is no valid results...
