Dear friends.
Have you ever been dealing with instalation of grounding brushes in EEX zone? We have to resolve problem with oil electrolysis within sleeve bearings in steam turbine. Inserting grounding brushes outside oil seals is not safe option because of possibility of sparking. Is it...

Hello,
Same rotors with the same amount of unbalance will produce equal centrifugal forces from unbalance mass. Vertical machines have lower stiffness in radial direction, that's why the vibration amplitude will be greater then on horizontal machines. And I had allways thinking that bearing...
mrjonadam,
For simple hollow lightly loaded shaft with rolling element bearings (high stiffness, low damping) simple equation should be close enough to real rotor system (if you neglect machine frame and foundation stiffness and damping). This is not some multimass rotor on journal bearings...
Hello,
I don't think that you have sufficient sensitivity for balancing vectors on such stiff machine for some better balancing quality. You may build some mechanical amplifier to get better sensitivity (resonator with low damping), but for better quality try balancing machines.
Hope this help.
I think that concretemasonry gave the best advice about massive concrete foundations. If you don't have vibration problems (high amplitudes) with existing type of foundation blocks, you shoul'd leave it that way. Foundation dynamics is critical only when is too flexible (low stiffness) and when...
Dear Jamil,
I'll recomend you first to balance your fans in place (try to reach fan casing and try to weld some mass, not much, just to see influence on bearing casings and in cable channel). If you see some influence on cable channel horizontal vibrations, then balance your fan as low as...
