Should I weld type 310 ss fittings directly to SA 213 gr T91 .180" wall tube using ERNiCr3 or overlay the attachment areas with ERNiCr3 first. Note that the attachments are fairly small (slip spacers) and need a 1/4" fillet.
We have inadvertantly used an AISI 1006 material for membrane attachment to waterwall tubes. We normally use 1008 or 1018 which are P#1 materials in ASME IX. Although AISI or SAE 1006 is listed as ASME 5041 in SA29 of section II A we cannot find an assignable P# in ASME IX for procedural...
I'm doing a vessel test plate that is 4.7" thick and has to be tested to PW 53.9. Everything is pretty standard with exception to the bend test.
53.9.1 says the width of the transverse bend specimen is to be 1.5 "T" which makes the specimen width 7".
Is this the true intent?
