    Titanium for hydrogen

Here are my service conditions: 99+ % Hydrogen, 30 bar (440 psi), about 80 C (176 F). Saturated with water vapor, less than 1% oxygen, traces (ppm?)of fluoride. We have experienced corrosion on standard titanium pipes. Any suggestions on what Ti alloy may work under these circumstances?

Hot KOH and SS 316 or SAF 2205: SSC?

Any experience on stress corrosion cracking in SS 316 used for hot (80 C) potassium hydroxide (KOH) with presence of oxygen? We have had some cases of severe problems, while other systems with (seemingly) identical service are doing fine. Our chosen replacement material in problem areas is SAF...

    Model for molecular distillation

We are trying to model a high-vacuum short path molecular distillation unit, which is used to separate long-chained unsaturated fatty acids. Getting accurate physical properties is one challenge, characterizing the complex mixture using pseudo-components is another. But my question is: Does...

    chemical engineering cost estimation

The link referred to in this thread http://members.rogers.com/fhcurry/CEIRev3.xls contains an equation trying to fit cost index data from 1950 onwards to a sixth degree polynomial. Come on! This is not good engineering practice for any such set of data. 1. Most of the parameters in that sixth...
