Hi
I have a lenght of 3C 25kV TECK power cable in a substation.
If I decide to do not ground the shield on one side of the cable what do I do with the aluminum armour with the connector?
It should remain ungrounded as well isn't it?
Someone can confirm what is the right way to do it?
Thanks
Hi everyone like me,
A setup of two exactly similar transformer of about 22MVA connected togother via a tie breaker has a downstream earth fault.
I figure out that the ground resistors (400A) of each transfomer will contribute of a ground/earth fault for 800A.
How can I solve the problem...
Hi everyone like me
I'd have a 600HP motor to connect on a 600V plant network.
It seems to me a too powerful motor to be connected to such a low voltage. I have thought about a VFD or a soft-start to start that motor.
The available power of the plant is enough for that motor in steady state...
Hi everyone
I have a UPS system that goes that way:
Inverter:
600V-120/208V transformer 3 wires going through a 3 pole breaker that makes the input of the UPS.
bypass:
600V-120/208V transformer 4 wire going through a 3 pole breaker that makes the input of the bypass. The neutral is not going...
Hi guys
Here is the situation:
I have to ground an old 2 floor building and a new 1.5MVA transformer located behind.
Here is what I would do for the transformer:
-Belt the transfomer with a bare 4/0 copper cable.
-Ground the metal structure of the enforced concrete structure surrounding the...
Hi everyone
I would like to have arguements to implement a grounding resistor on a new electrical room. The system consists to a 4160KV/600V 1/1.33MVA transformer and a 4-5 motors (between 20 to 100HP) connected to a MCC fed by the transformer.
I really don't need explanation on how it works...
And what about the choice between a 120V 3-phase or a 600V 3-phase for the same power.
Don't considerate the transformer availability or the size of the cable in your answer.
I think I will go with the fused panelboard. Can you confirm that it would work?
And is this a recurrent problem that two serial breakers could not coordinate? What are the usual solutions? Cause it is my first real engineering project I don't see any solution than to put this extreme fused...
Ok I'll go into the details.
The circuit explained in my previous post is the bypass of an 40KVA UPS. There is a serial external by-pass cabinet containing another breaker as well.
The problem that we observed on a similar system, is that when a fault occurs, the UPS reacts a lot faster than...
My circuit is:
MCC(600) -> cable ->600-120/208 transformer-> cable -> 120/208 panelboard
There is already a transformer. Why is inserting a serial inductance between my cable and my panelboard would not work?
Hi
I have simulated my electrical system on ETAP on it gives me a short circuit current too high if a 3 phase short circuit happens. It makes the distribution panel breaker useless: the upstream breaker trip and I lose all my loads (servers...).
What are my solutions then?
I thought to...
