Not Crossing Dimensions

Hi: 1)One way would be to use ordinate dimensions, but the dimension values may be a little weird. 2)If the dimensions are all similar, just dimension one feature and just use TYP as typical. 3) Use a table of to the side and dimension each feature with leaders that reference the table. These...

    Weeping Tile

How does one join the "sock"-covered weeping tiles? Can you just overlap two tiles say one foot and hope that the flow upstream goes into the downstream tile offset to the side, providing it slopes say 3" in 10'? I bought two tiles each with a sock covering the plastic tile. I opened up the...

    Injection molding machine footprint

Hello: Would anyone know where to access an injection molding machine CAD dwg footprint for a say 660 ton machine. I need to do a preliminary layout of a plant. The machine suppliers do not seem to provide any CAD envelope geometry. Does anyone know who does?

    Toyota Plant

Hello limct: It would be nice to go to Japan and visit the plant, but I haven't the time or funds to do so. Have you been there? :-)

Automotive Plant Design: Final Vehicle Assembly

I am currently analyzing automotive plant design: final vehicle assembly -Press Shop, Body Shop (BIW), Paint Shop, and final assembly shop. I need to concentrate on plant layout design and will examine how this affects competitive manufacturing in the automotive industry. What is the current...

    Definition of Ovality?

I believe my first definition is a weighted average whereas the second description was an attempt at expressing ovality as the difference between major and minor diameters. I have not come across ovality expressed as a geometric tolerance and was wondering why runout would not do. For instance...

    Definition of Ovality?

Thanks for your insight, however I don't know how the second example was calculated. The diameter difference is 0.21, not 0.19.

    Definition of Ovality?

How would you define ovality? One definition is 2*(D-d)/(D+d). Another example I came upon is D=18.74, d=18.53, Ovality=0.19, which does not correspond to the above formula. Thank-you.

    Proportional flow valves

Sounds very interesting! I am just going to ask some more questions:
1) Does the 2/2 refer to a two-way two-postion valve, -actually it may be 3-position?
2) How would your pulse width modulation determine duty cycle with voltage being fed in?
3) Are you trying to turn this valve...

to learn programming with FEA and CAD

This question is very difficult to answer. It is similar to -"how can I create an automobile and where must I begin from". As is typical, a simple question is usually very difficult to answer. However, too often as we develop in our professions we forget or give up asking...

    Floating Viewports

I don't understand how you could hope to have automatic updates with ACad 14. You are basically working in a 2D environment with no parametric capability. If you want these capabilities, the easiest method is to use a solid modeling CAD package such as Solid Edge, Mech DT, or Solidworks. Then...
