NFPA 30 for gensets w belly tanks

This is great, many thanks! based on these posts I think it's pretty clear how NFPA 30 and the tables for separation distance to buildings and/or property lines apply here. Shame the shell-to-shell spacing in table 22.4.2.1 is not very helpful for belly tanks

NFPA 30 for gensets w belly tanks

It's a planned install in the USA, the codes followed are the 2021 I-codes.. I've checked IBC, IFC and IMC and I believe the IFC and IMC takes me to NFPA 37 but it's after that I get unsure... NFPA 37 refers to NFPA 30 for "fuel tanks outdoors (aboveground or underground) in 6.3.3.. But does...

NFPA 30 for gensets w belly tanks

That's a great question, apologies for not including that in the original post! It is a UL 142 listed, secondary containment type tank i.e. double wall. It is not a protected above ground tank.

NFPA 30 for gensets w belly tanks

I'm looking for insight into which NFPA standard and requirements that apply to the diesel tanks for the following scenario: 2 generators (not em or standby), outside (but has enclosures) with each diesel tank stored underneath (belly tank), tank is rectangular shape and ~5,000 gallons of...

Private Fire Service Main - Offline hydrants

Does anyone know of any reference that would provide guidance on how many hydrants can be offline- for maintenance or failure event - at any given time when on a private fire service main? I have checked NFPA 24, 25, IBC and IFC but can't find anything so I assume there is no such guidance?

    NFPA 72 fire alarm monitoring

Thanks - this is very helpful! No sprinkler system - it is not needed by code (or AHJ) and because the enclosure houses electrical equipment the Owner does not want to install it. The reason I brought up NFPA 72 is because of clause 23.3.4.1 (2025 edition) for Nonrequired (voluntary) system and...

    NFPA 72 fire alarm monitoring

I have a campus with a protected premises fire alarm system (addressable). We're now adding a new building, it's an electrical equipment enclosure ~375SF, which would not need a fire alarm system per code (IBC 2021) however the Owner wants to install smoke detectors and manual pull station...

Redundant fire pumps for campus setup

Hello there, Scenario: Industrial type campus development with multiple buildings (4-6), applicable codes are IBC and NFPA. Private fire loop is being provided, sprinklers are being fed from a fire water tank with a diesel driven fire pump. Question: Is a redundant pump required? I believe...

    Fire pump potable water requirements

Appreciate the response, and sorry for the confusion, let me see if I can clarify (unfortunately don't have flow diagram: It does not meet the fire flow requirements per Appendix B of the IFC, this jurisdiction requires 4,000 gpm for 4hrs. The booster pump is not required in order to meet...

    Fire pump potable water requirements

The following question pertains to a project in the US, i.e it is following all applicable US codes; IBC, IFC, NFPA 13, 20 etc. The project is an industrial type campus style project. It has a fire loop that feeds the sprinklers, and a dedicated fire water tank with a fire pump (tank is...

    Domestic booster pump feeding hydrants

The following question is for a project in the US (so IBC/IFC and NFPA applicable): It is a Campus style project. Sprinklers are fed from a fire loop, pressurized by a fire pump drawing water from a dedicated fire water tank. The domestic water system on site feeds all domestic water sources...
