    drooling nylon

why does nylon tend to drool? Is it do to crystallinity? Does an amorphous nylon drool less?

    Ink Adhesion Testing

    Thank you for the input.

    tool heater oil coking

What type of heat transfer fluid are you using. Do you purge it out of the tool with air? Air can actually damage some heat transfer fluids and cause a build up. Paratherm makes a cleaner for PM on oil circulating units. They also make several grade of transfer fluid.

    Filler

Does anyone know what the filler GMB-2 is ? This is used in a medical application.

    Ink Adhesion Testing

Is there a standardized test for ink adhesion to molded plastic surfaces ? This would be a pad printing application.

    PMP Chemical Bond

I am looking for a plastic that is preferably in the TPE family, that will bond, chemically, with TPX resin. This is a "two shot" injection molding application. The elastomer must be transparant (or close) and have "self sealing" properties similar to a "septum". Low durometer 30 shore A ?

    Valve Gate Control

I am looking for hydraulic valve gate controllers. Any input on quality equipment ?

    long draw surface finish

Would a chrome coating impart a surface characteristic that would be a benefit for release ? (Applied after draw polish )

    long draw surface finish

What type of surface finish works well for PSU release. High polish ? Vapor Hone ? Would an electroless nickel PTFE coating help ? The application is an injection molded part with a 12" x .400" core.

    Hard Squishy Material

"tecoplast" manufactured by Noveon seems to be getting close. Meets all of the criteria. High Shore D durometer.

    Hard Squishy Material

I am not the part designer. Solving this problem with a change in material properties would not be my approach. I have sampled high Shore A TPE,TPU, and TPV. The customer would like something more rigid. My next step is to jump into the mid to high Shore D materials. I have only found this in a...

    Hard Squishy Material

Looking for an "elastic" resin that is rigid. This material must be "hard" but compressable. After compression, this material must return to it's original shape. Injection molding grade. EtO sterilizable (3x). Radiopaque. Biocompatable. Durometer > 80 Shore D. TPE ? TPU ? TPV ?

coining pmp to achieve optical transparency

Here's an update... I have moved this component to a larger tonnage molding machine. The thin walled areas varied in thickness. This was the cause of the warp in 0.010" windows. By coining these features at a higher pressure, I was able to keep them at a uniform thickness. The tooling for...

How do you increase weld line strenth in GF LCP resin moldings ?

The part is acually a gasket for use in a medical device. Multiple gates did, indeed, add to the problems. We are adding an overflow well to help with the weld. Regards, Ryan Heidenfeld Plastics Process Engineer

How do you increase weld line strenth in GF LCP resin moldings ?

I am looking for tips on how to increase weld line integrity when molding thin walled, long flow front parts. Do "weld wells" that are trimed off after molding add significant strength ?

coining pmp to achieve optical transparency

I'll try to conclude this thread with good news... In the next few weeks. Thanks for the advice Regards, Ryan Heidenfeld Plastics Process Engineer

coining pmp to achieve optical transparency

Here's another tid bit of info. I have a 2.5 " fan gate that feeds this part. The four windows in front of this gate are flat. The two window at the ends of the part have the warp. The flow front encompasses the entire part almost evenly across it. Obviously, the ends that are not in front...

coining pmp to achieve optical transparency

What a resource!!! I have tried overmolding a film and the cosmetics were not acceptable. The warp that I am seeing now is minimal. I think that I am going in the right direction. The material supplier recommeded high mold temps. The other direction is what is yielding better results...

coining pmp to achieve optical transparency

Thanks for the responce...I am a new member and wasn't sure if anyone looked at this web site. The part is a 3" x 5" x 0.060" tray that is used for labratory diognostic equipment. There are six "windows" that are located in thr center of the part. (side by side). They...

    Material selection question

In the same line as the TOPAS (coc). TPX might be an option as well. (pmp)
