Media Head Loss During Air Scour & Combo Backwash

Thanks for the response bimr... In my case when backwash procedures start the water level in the filter is taken down to 6" above the media. At this point the air scour only mode starts with air flow equaling 4 cfm/sft of filter. This equals 850 cfm in our case. The blower runs for 5 minutes...

Media Head Loss During Air Scour & Combo Backwash

Hi, I'm looking at sizing a PD blower for air scour in a gravity media filter with 18" of anthracite on 12" of sand. I have calculated the head loss from friction (pipe, bends, check valve, underdrain, etc.) and the static pressure from the water in the filter during the air scour only mode and...

    Blower Differential Pressure

Thanks for the reply. Some information I looked at said the inlet pressure was 12 psia, which I take as 12 lb/in^2 atmospheric for the elevation of the blower. Can you explain why the pressure should be negative on the inlet side then. Thanks again.

    Blower Differential Pressure

I am new to blowers and need a little help. If I have a inlet pressure of 12 psia on the inlet side of the blower and a differential pressure of 6 psi what does that tell me? I expect it means the outlet pressure is 6 psi and 6 psi is lost to the equipment? If I was using this blower for...

Barrel Arch (Cover) for Rectangular Aeration Basin

I am working on an expansion project for a wastewater treatment facility that currently has barrel arch covers over their existing aeration basins. For a number of reasons the new aeration basins are also going to be covered, but the original manufacturer has gone out of business. If anyone...

    Mechanical Joints Above Grade

Hi, I have been asked by a supplier to subsitute some flanged fittings for mechanical fittings in an above ground application due to timing/supply issues. The piping material is C900, so a mechanical restraint would have to be used in either case (like EBAA Iron or other). The piping would be...
