The thing is this is not exactly a one time use kind of thing more on the production side but small in that category. The idea is to be able to make these slats to a very acculturate dimension stability reliably and quickly ( at will ) so a tool which can do this is what I am trying to realize.
I am looking to make a rig or tool that can make an exact and repeatable cut of 12 carbon fiber slats the sheet of carbon the slats are made from are made of 1 ply .3mm laminate so it is not too difficult to cut. The two ideas I have had are a die cutter and some type of rig with movable blades...
Hey guys thanks for all of the replies. I really want to figure this out. How would converting spl to psi do anything? The mass of the entire structure is 17.12 grams. There is no friction as the slats of carbon are rigidly attached to the bearing there is no movement here. I dont care what the...
I want to know how to calculate the weight "seen" by the voice coil in this transducer. Link - http://imgur.com/tAO4wE0.
They way the speaker is arranged is there are 12 slats of carbon fiber attached to a thrust bearing on the topside and a voice coil on the bottom. An extra 24 neoprene slats...
The transducer as you can see the coil pushes up bending the laminas outward http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=cab8cd69-ee98-4dd5-818a-e180b9a6e400&file=measure.JPG
Thanks for all the impressive and detailed reply's. The original question was more of a thought experiment which you guys have taught me something about. The actual scenario is a bit different and takes into account coupling of bending and twisting which is my main concern. I would like to...
BlakMax by the following does this mean that the coupling of either system decreases as the laminate gets thinner?
Now clearly there is a conflict between the requirements for balanced and symmetric laminates. In practice the coupling between bending and twisting decreases with the third power...
Kinda an old thread but I assume you mean Wacker e40. I have used it very expensive and troublesome to get within the US. I am currently using SS-67E by silcone solutions works as well if not better than wacker and is about 1/3 the price.http://siliconesolutions.com/documents/SS-67BETDS.pdf
The question arrived because I told a friend that weave is just two or more layered uni fabrics at specific angles But the uni has the advantage of superior physical properties since there is no crimp and the fibers are as flat as possible. The superior properties can be lets say thinner,less...
Lets say you have a plain weave carbon fabric and wanted the same anisotropic properties lets say at 0 and 90 degrees but without the downfalls of a weave such as crimp. So you used unidirectional fabric at these specific angles. Would the result be similar but surperior to the weave since there...
First alittle about the application. The adhesive is for a transducer. The adhesive will bond Carbon fiber to neoprene foam. The glue should be dampning, strong, and flexible while providing excellent sealing properties. I have attached an image of the application. The carbon fiber is clearly...
I need a decently permeable metal that is at least as good as 1018 steel or stainless 416. There is a metallurgical worker who had a special blend
of stainless called AL631-17CR 7NI. Here is the analysis C .072; MN .74; P.019; S.001; SI .480; CR 16.59; NI 7.22; AL .810; MO .280; CU .440; TI...
Hey thanks for the response Cortarelli
About the images being difficult to see did you try zooming in all the way?
I know for a fact the rubber in the images is a chloroprene family member, I got this information straight from the company who produces these speakers. I don't think DuPont...
after a little more research it seems the higher the viscosity the better the dampening WD, and WHV have the highest though GD seems a little better the density for all neoprene are the same around 1.20 so with these facts I think its safe to assume the neoprene in the pictures is WD. Though...
Here are the family sub-types from which to choose I would hither a guess and say the g-types are most appropriate for the given application.

I was not sure if the rubber I am trying to I.D is expanded or not. The only reason I thought it is was because it looks celled.
The project I am working on is to replicate a commercial speaker. The album of pictures above is a speaker and the rubber is between the vibrating diaphragms. which...
