Before any comment i think i need to know what code have you wrote. The most common error in api is the range of the arrays. For example there are 5 elements in array but array defined as 4 or 6 elements, sap just skip it.

Are you sure that you assigned hinge properties correct? also nonlinear material properties(if auto or something like that)?
Also, 0.5 sec output time step seems crucible.. what do you want to do with that results.

Modeling the pipeline in Sap2000 is not required. You can define design rules in your matlab code too.
I suggest you to learn using matlab first then you can find what you need in SAP2000 API Documentation file. Using of every module and property is described in that *.chm file.
