    Buckling capacity of twisted plate strut

    Here's a script, generated by grok, not too sure I believe it!

    Australian Grid resilience

    Bandaid the grid, to be honest. There's a bit of an argument as to whether burying powerlines is a long term bad investment. As the article mentions they do it in Canberra. I must admit I always marvel how Canberra's streets have no potholes, the pavements don't trip you up, and every street is...

    Australian Grid resilience

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03-10/no-quick-fix-to-qld-nsw-power-outages-as-grid-weakness-laid-bare/105031536 They are suggesting community hub battery sub stations. The one in the photo will keep 4000 houses going for 1 hour. Typical outages are 5 days long. So in reality 33 houses.

    what is old is new again ...

    Found this, seems related. https://elib.dlr.de/209223/1/Krengel_2024_ECCOMAS_FuelBurnEfficiency_of_LoadAlleviation_inOAD.pdf Summary. This study shows the integration of the overall aircraft design with a concurrentwing planform optimization for long-range aircraft. The focus is on wing design...

    Buckling capacity of twisted plate strut

    I'll just whack my suggested approach into Grok and see what the result looks like.

    Force Moment Method within Full-Vehicle Analysis/Static and Quasi-Static Maneuvers

    You may be able to find the script req2cdf.m or its fortran equivalent. They MAY be proprietary. The google search for msc adams req file format has many hits and rabbitholes.

    New integrated AI/Python browser based app - Dystr

    Oh it's a rigid bicycle model.

    Force Moment Method within Full-Vehicle Analysis/Static and Quasi-Static Maneuvers

    I think it is something you have to write a script for, the ADAMS postprocessor is not very good at that sort of thing. All of my plotting was in Matlab or Hypergraph, and this looks like a Matlab job.

    Things are getting better part 2

    Good for a transport plane, bad for a passenger plane, emergency egress is the issue.

    Lower Ball Joint in Tension

    Up until a couple of decades ago there was no recommendation either way. Then a whole bunch of manufacturers ran into durability failures in service that hadn't shown up in testing. In at least one case it turns out the boot manufacturer had surreptitiously changed the material used for the boot...

    Buckling capacity of twisted plate strut

    You could probably model it as a series of linear flexible joints joined by rigid struts and do an energy balance. that is minimise F in F*d=sum(1/2k*thetan2)

    Residential renovations suck and are not worth the fees! {PROVE ME WRONG!}

    I was thinking about that 50% figure. At first it seemed high, and then I realised I don't charge for developing new generic tools that I might (but to be honest probably won't) use again later, and I don't charge for book-learning, research etc when I'm going into the nitty gritty details of...

    Residential renovations suck and are not worth the fees! {PROVE ME WRONG!}

    As an uncivil (indeed rude mechanical) engineer I'd say your first few projects of a given type are also a big learning experience, and so to some extent can be regarded as educational expenses. I took on a job with significant CAD requirements, thinking I could outsource the boring bit, to...

    Help Identifying Callouts in an Old Drawing

    I liked the way the effect of WW2 rationing was still present. Thou shalt use the letters in alphabetical order for each different attribute. So you have view A datum A section A-A, none of which are necessarily related.

    Tire Vertical force FZ

    It is definitely there in Car. Which Test Rig are you using? I don't have ADAMS any more so i can't tell you directly, but if you post the .adm file i'll find it.
