To Orbit, and to the rest of you. I got what I needed when I posted my question back in September. I needed to calculate the uplift loads to determine the Simpson hold down straps/column caps to use. The information provided by dougantholz on September 19, 2001 was what I used. Thanks.
What is the formula to calculate the uplift load on a wood post column? Lets say I want to build a 12 ft. sq. open picnic shelter in a 80mph wind zone with 4x4 wood post columns at each corner. How do I determine the uplift load for each column?
