Code Requirement - Steam Pipes Above Electrical Panels

NEC 110.26(F)(1)(a) clears things up for me. Dedicated space... Nothing else allowed...

Code Requirement - Steam Pipes Above Electrical Panels

Our pipefitters have routed a steam line directly above a couple of NEMA-1 electrical panels. It has been pointed out that this is a potential violation of NEC 110.34(F) which states: "Pipes or ducts foreign to the electrical installation and requiring periodic maintenance or whose malfunction...

Switching 170VDC using 120VAC control coil

Thanks all for your excellent responses. I have some good leads now, thanks to your input. It looks like there are several DC contactors that will meet the need. Lionel - yes, the device I need to switch is a CTD-2 capacitor trip unit made by Electromagnetic Industries, LLP. It is installed...

Switching 170VDC using 120VAC control coil

I have an application where I need to switch a 1200uF capacitor charged by a half-wave rectified 120VAC supply, or 170VDC across the contacts. The relay coil will need to be supplied from the 120VAC source. I have spent all day to no avail looking for a suitable relay with a 120V coil and...

    Siemens Power Management System Lockup

Thanks for the responses so far. jraef: Yes, both the PLC and the RTUs are provided with UPS power. It is a very recent installation, but we are having difficulty getting the vendor to acknowledge that there is a problem. I will try the support line you suggested and see if Siemens has any ideas.

    Siemens Power Management System Lockup

Our facility has a power management system based on a Siemens S7 PLC polling about 100 Siemens 9610 multifunction relays which are daisy-chained together with 4-wire RS485 serial cable. We recently experienced a total loss of facility power, and the power monitoring system completely froze up...

    Combination structural support/Linear bearing

Thanks, Barry. I tried to Google Winkle, and the closest match I found was for Winkle Industries who makes electromagnetic crane attachments. Is this the right company? If not, oculd you post a link? Thanks! Steve

    Combination structural support/Linear bearing

Thanks for the quick response, Bill. Yes, I'd thought of forklift masts too, but couldn't find a source on line. I found plenty of bearings, but no source for the c-channel guides. Any guidance as to potential sources would be appreciated. Thanks again, Steve

    Combination structural support/Linear bearing

I'm designing a lifting device with about 10 feet of vertical motion and with a load capacity of about 2 tons. I would like to use the four support columns themselves as linear bearing guides for the vertical motion. I'm envisioning C-channel columns constraining roller or slide bearings. Any...
