How to Specify Displacement to a Point?

I'm trying to make a simplified version of my model work, which is two blocks separated by a distance. One is completely fixed, while the other is only fixed on the far side from the first block. I'd like to specify displacement of the partially free block such that the block deforms, and face...

    Modeling fluid filled cavity

Thanks for the replies. I'm still working on the problem, although other issues in my model have come up (see new thread ). I don't have access to the online support system because I'm running an academic license. If there's any other way to get access to the support system answers, please let...

    Modeling fluid filled cavity

I don't need to model the fluid directly, hydrostatic pressure should work. What do you recommend is the best way to do that? I have an orphan mesh part that I would like to model as a fluid-filled membrane. Thanks.

    Modeling fluid filled cavity

I am trying to model a fluid filled cavity and I have defined the boundary of the cavity with shell elements. How do I then define the interior with F3D3 or F3D4 hydrostatic fluid elements? When I go into Mesh -> Element Type I don't see any fluid element options. What am I missing? Thanks...

    Energy required to start motion

My question is how would I calculate the work required to apply a sufficient force to overcome an automobile's static friction? The standard Work = Force * Distance doesn't seem to apply.

    Energy required to start motion

I'm out of my area here, but I'm trying to calculate the energy required to start a car moving. How do you calculate the energy required to overcome static friction and the cars inertia. Thanks in advance, Chris

Atmospheric storage tank heating - Direct injection

Are there any regulations prohibiting using direct injection of steam to heat an atmospheric storage (water) tank? The application is for a water storage tank for boiler feed water. The tank is outdoors and heating would be to offset ambient heat losses with the intent to maintain the tank at...

Weal top roof on API 650 roof

We have an API 650 AST, 36'dia, 30' tall. There is a flame arrester and pressure vacuum vent valve (PVVV) on the roof that weighs in the neighborhood of 800#, as well as steam, nitrogen, and process inlet piping. When the flame arrester and PVVV were initially installed there was a noticeable...

    VR Stamp

My company has recently acquired plants in MA and OH and the previous owner(s) were performing repairs on relief valves for the process (not the boiler house, air receivers or refrigeration equip) in house. I'm pretty clear that OH requires a VR stamp to do this work but am unsure about MA...
