Oil film stiffness and damping coefficients

Hello, I have a question about calculating oil film stiffness and damping coefficients. From literature, it says that Kxx = dFx/dx Kxy = dFx/dy Kyx = dFy/dx Kyy = dFy/dy Cxx = dFx/dxdot Cxy = dFx/dydot Cyx = dFy/dxdot Cyy = dFy/dydot My question is that if you have a limit cycle (journal...

    Hydrodynamics.... Help please

Hello all, I have a question about one small thing. In literature, it says that linear analysis of hydrodynamic becomes nonlinear if the amplitude is larger than 40%. My question is how do you measure this amplitude? Thanks for any replies!!

    Oil whirl Help!!!

Thanks electricpete. I am running a FEM simulations using COMSOL (FEMLAB). A thing is that even though I do not put an unbalance, when I look at the trasient journal motion, I get a periodic circle, not an equilibrium point. I thought I only get a periodic circle when I have an unbalance.

    Oil whirl Help!!!

Hi, I have a question about cascade plot. Cascade plot is usually for an imbalance rotors. Why is there a peak at 1x at low frequency? Also is it possible to have 1x without imbalance?
