We just got released on a large pile and lagging wall. We have MathCad sheets tooled for ASD design methods, however this project needs to be LRFD. Does anybody know if any design software has been retooled for LRFD, if so, which ones are the good ones? I see RetainPro 10 has a option for it...
I've looked at the GEO5 Gabion Package and have heard about the RetainPro 10 software. Why is RetainPro 1/2 the price of the GEO5 Gabion Basket wall software, does anybody have any experience with RetainPro and know if its a solid program.
Does anybody have any recommendations for a good retaining wall design software that is capable of designing a gravity gabion basket wall in accordance to LRFD standards?
I'm working on a pile and lagging wall with a silty sand backfill and there is no bedrock close to my excavation line, therefore I'm only relying on soil for my passive resistance. After running some initial calcs in MathCad I put it into PYWall and was told by our engineer to check my p-y curve...
BigH, well said. The more I think about it the engineers around our area generally say the same thing. The never have any calculations to back it up but just with certain loads and consistency of soils what its going to settle. I don't have my soils books in front of me, but I'll have to look...
I think CPT would be very beneficial too. Unfortunately, the contractor that do CPT aren't very close and I don't know what the cost of their services is, but I know its much more expensive than a standard CME truck rig. Around Tennessee we can get $9.50 /foot with like a $350 mob. Any idea what...
Valid point! Its one I side with all the time, but am usually overruled due to my lack of experience. The use of a consolidation test leads me to another question. If you have one consolidation test done at the approximate foundation bearing elevation, do you assume all your soils to have the...
Our company does basic geotechnical explorations for mostly commercial buildings and some small municipal structures. Often clients do not have the budget to afford a consolidation test to obtain consolidation settlement rates so we can estimate settlement of Clays.
Can I get some suggestions...
Does anybody have any good recommendations for relatively cheap design software for drilled shafts? I'm specifically looking for something that includes the structural design of them, not just the P-Y analysis of it, we currently use LPile by Ensoft for that.
It takes long because you have to merge and format your cells to show an accurate representation of your soil strata. Here is an example of what we do - I removed all our job info and company info, thats why the top is blank. So its the typing in that takes so long...
Does anybody have recommendations for a software that generates boring logs? We use Excel and its a pain to work with because it takes so long, however we'd like something less expensive then Gint Logs. Ideas?
