Hi. Haven't been by here for awhile.
'Traditionally', I have been using 4in spacing for .063 and 6in spacing for .093 circuit boards (greater than 6"sq, commercial duty). I can't remember where I got these rule of thumb numbers (they were told to me at some time in the 90s), so I decided to...
C'mon mcgyvr....I'm not blaming IV at all. It worked fine w/ my old Matrox card, too...until the assembly really got big. I was experiencing the same thing w/ large SW assys.
I went to ATI because Matrox is largly untested for IV...and I wasn't up to paying $1k+ for a higher end card that SW...
I taked to VAR, and he got me to all that. I eventually called Nvidia, and they were actually the most helpful. They tried to get my ATI card to work...but we determined it's prob the card...so I ordered a Quadro FX 1700...just waiting for it to arrive.....
Not bashing IV, but I've been running...

At about 2 min into working in Inventor, my system completely freezes up. I checked Solidworks, and it freezes up, but system remains active and usable.

given varying plate voltage (200-400Va-k), and screen voltage following by a few volts (via screen resistor tied to OT CT), does the plate load vary much w/ varying Va? How much over 50V variation? How much over 100V variation?
I'm just looking for ballpark...
I'm in Pasadena, CA. SW user since '98
Do any of you know of any Inventor classes, schools, seminars, etc in the Lost Angeles area that I could look into?
I'm already using Inventor 2009, but it would help if I could get a little one-on-one, or even a JC class.
Pasadena City College only teaches...
#1 worked great. I wonder why this isn't in any of the Inventor books I have. It's such a necessary task.
Thanks mcgyvr!
#3 is what I resorted to, but made a lot more work to clean up.

I make a flat, square plate (sketch a square and extrude).
I save the part. I use the part in an assembly. But now I want to go back and lightweight the square plate. I edit original sketch, and add big circles inside (something I'm used to doing a LOT). But...
