    Mooring Hook Lubrication

What is the best type of grease to use on mooring hooks? We are on the Mississippi and the grease that has been used in the past seems to just harden up after a short time. Does anyone have a recommendation of a good marine type/heavy duty grease? Much appreciated.

    Isolation material @ pipe supports

thread378-96214 Thanks for the comments, our refinery was built using nothing under the pipe, then pipes were lifted and round bar was used. I agree that the round bar puts a point stress load on already weakened pipe (due to corrosion); we have also tried FRP pads and of course we didn't do a...

    Cooling Tower Valve

We are looking at a new design for a water distribution valves for our cooling tower. We have found one from A&L Valve that seems to be a really good design; they have nylon guides, to eliminate the wear on the back bushings, which always seem to wear out first. Anyway, there seems to be some...

    Cooling Tower Valve

We are looking at a new design for a water distribution valves on our cooling tower. They are a really good design; they have nylon guides, to eliminate the wear on the back bushings, that always seem to wear out. Anyway, there seems to be some concern with the 5/16" stainless bolting for the...

    Pipe to sleeper corrosion

DSB123, Yes the propane does sit on the steel, and we do have 450F. lines also on the steel, but it doesn't operate at all times, and when it does, not for long. When building this refinery, they cut corners wherever they could. Now we are paying the price, some 30 years later. So now, I need...

    Pipe to sleeper corrosion

11echo, no, all supports are carbon steel and painted. We are getting the corrosion from trapped moisture. jte, I am not sold on the c/s round bar, I am exploring other options. We don't have the luxury of replacing the pipe yet. Looking at putting a Kevlar type strip onto the top of the I-Beam...

    Pipe to sleeper corrosion

I am currently in a refinery, that when built, no wear pads or any type of isolation was used between the rack and pipe. Now we are seeing a lot of corrosion at these points. The plant right now is putting cold roll (C/S round bar) on top of the I-Beams. My problem with this, is that there is...
