Alright, thanks for looking for me. I feel better knowing that it is a difficult problem. EnergyMix, any ideas how I could measure this? im using a gas analyser but it wont give mass flow rate, the just percentage of the constituents in the flue gas.
Hi,
Renderu, aside from the i let and outlet, the wood is inside a sealed container, hence no air will enter from above. I should also mention that its not the air required by the wood that is key, it is an experiment to see the effect on combustion when adjusting how much air is allowed to the...
Sorry, i left out an important piece of information. the fire is inside a firebox, air can only enter the system through the red pipe and flue gas leaves through an outlet further above the diagram.
Hi all. I expect this problem is simpler than I think but i'm going around in circles and would appreciate a handy push in the right direction.
I have a combustion situation as shown in the image, note that the blue line represents a grate on which the wood sits, the red lines are an inlet pipe...
Thanks 25362, That should probably do the trick. ione, found that one before, not incredibly clear what was going on so i gave up on it, thanks though!
rmw, from what i've found out so far, the calorific value of wood is pretty consistent, at least softwoods are consistent and hardwoods are...
Hi, i'm trying to get my hands on either a graph or an equation linking the moisture content of wood to its calorific value (kJ/kg) other units are fine though...
Most sources seem to say "if your wood is 30% is approximately xx" but its for a model so i actually need to know the variation...

the slot is 3mm wide and the inside of it varies from 5mm from the centre of the cam to 45mm. The follower is just a bar with a pin in the slot (clearance fit). The bar is also constrained to move in one place as it passes through a slot.

this looks like good advice...
Hi all, I'm trying to use a box design heart shaped cam to obtain a uniform velocity profile in traversing motion (see attachment) the problem is the cam jams in the dip, i've tried making other versions of the cam without the dip but then it just gets stuck in the new section.
The material is...
