Thanks DUWE6 for your help, Just to double check
for 2 inch thick material the safe heating rate would be
about 110 deg C/Hr according to the same code?
Thanks in advance.
The applicable code is ASME Section VIII Div 1.
I have looked at this section and found a rate of 222 deg C/Hr advised which shall be divided by the maximum thickness of the shell or head.
Does this mean for 1 inch thick shell the heating rate can be 222deg C/Hr? Is this normally practiced...
Please can anyone let me know the heating rate to be used for PWHT of ASTM 516 Gr 60 and SS316L
Is there a fixed rate of heating for all thicknesses?
For carbon steel A516 Gr60 we are working with all thicknesses up to 60mm.
Thanks for your help.
Dear All,
I need to create a form of TBE for plate bending/rolling machine for rolling of steel plate for pressure vessel fabrication. Can anybody supply a standard form for this evaluation?

Thank you SnTman. Can the bevel angle be adjusted on the straight line track cutter? do you process parallel edges simultaneously, for heat input etc or this is not required?
our material range is carbon steel A516 Gr70 and Stainless steel 316L.
Please can someone explain how the bevels at the seams of cut plate (after oxy-cutting of plate)are produced. I thought quicky or straight cutters may be used but I am not sure of the accuracy levels achievable.

I am tasked with recommending the equipment required to set up a PV fabrication workshop, and present budget prices for a workshop which can process:
1- carbon steel and stainless steel vessels.
2-diameters up to 4000mm, and thickness up to 60mm.
3-ability to add all ancillaries e.g pressure...
