Hi Mike,
It is a set through nozzle requiring full penetration weld. What the fabricator claims is it meets the other code requirements. A particular example I saw in their shop shows, enough room for a full penetration weld. But, it is always possible to have less than full penetration weld...
We have a subcontractor fabricating our vessels. I noticed that, a hillside(offset)nozzle has inside bevel on one half and outside bevel on other half. I had not seen it before in other shops. It is not double bevel, but it is inside bevel on one half and outside bevel on other half. Is is...
ASME Section VIII Div.1, UG-20(f)(2) states as below,
The completed vessel shall be hydrostatically tested per UG-99(b) or UG-99(c) or 27-4. Alternatively, the completed vessel may be pneumatically tested in accordance
with 35-6.
Per this paragraph, the Code allows 'pneumatic testing' instead...
For ASME Section VIII Div. 2 heads,
why does compress calculates stresses per 4.3.10 for heads on vertical vessels but does not calculate those stresses on heads of horizontal vessels ?
There may be a significant point I am missing. I would much appreciate any clarification.
Section VIII-Div.2 3.11.2.2 (a)says "if the governing thickness at any welded joint or any non-welded part exceeds 100mm(4 in.), and MDMT is colder than 43°C (110°F), then impact testing is required".
Does this mean that the forging designed with SA-350-LF2 Cl.1 needs to be impact tested...
Mike,
Thank you for your response. Full diameter pad will certainly be cheapest solution, since I already have 264 degree covered with pad. Could you please give me a direction to some reference (book, article) for such cacluations.
I have two horizontal pressure vessels to be stacked together. The upper vessels sits on the upper saddle of lower vessel. The local stess on the shell becomes excessive during operating condition. I have come up with few solutions such as increasing the shell thickness of the lower vessel...
Thank you Mr. Barsh for the response.
The T/T dimension so it basically does not help me. If I have overall length (eg. from the end of baseplate to the face of flange on top head) & similar for horizontal nozzles,it would help me design more accurate shipping calculations.
Does anybody know if COMPRESS has any option to measure overall length, width and height of the vessel. I need these dimension for the shipping estimation.
I am sorry if this question has already been answered (just show me the direction). Thanks a lot for your contribution.
I need to design a 12'x12'x8'RECTANGULAR API650 Tank for the design pressure of 1PSI but unable to find appropiate reference material. Can anybody suggest section of API 650 , (book or article) for this design ? Thanks in advance for your support.
I want to export stacked fractions from AutoCAD as it is to Excel. I am using one commercial software (TableBuilder) but not able do so. Can anyone help me to fill the form attached so that I can get correct output
