Does anyone out there have any G code or a macro for date code serial numbers? We use date code then 3 digits after it starting at "-001". This would save us from writing an individual program for every part to serialize. Thanks.

Hello,
We have PDMWorkgroup and we are rapidly bringing more and more new Solidworks users into the Vault. Does anyone have a step by step guide or SOP written for how to use the vault that is easy to follow and could help get my users up to speed quicker than trial and error? I want to try to...
I need to figure out how to save the history while renaming. That is our issue. We need to know if we can keep the history so we can possibly rollback the files to the previous rev if possible.

As soon as I rename a file that comes out of the Vault it erases the history. I need to find a way to save the history but rename the file to a new number. (This is for R&D mainly).

We are trying to figure out if it is possible to save a file (model and drawing) to a new name and save the file history from the previous name. Is this something we would be able to do? This is a PDM Vault thing. Thanks!

Is anyone else having this problem? We just upgraded to 2008 and when we go to "Save as a copy" we can't rename the model to match the drawing. So basically it is taking more steps to do something that was so simple is 2007. Any suggestions?

We have a label that is a part. This label gets put into every Solidworks drawing we create for a product which is its on individual assembly. However we have noticed lately that this assembly is taking a long time to load. We have come to the conclusion that this label is linking all our...

So I am drawing up a tap for a kegerator that I have at my house. I want to import an image of the island that I summer on (Cuttyhunk, MA) then somehow extrude the image either up and out or make a cut into the handle. It looks great in my head, but my question is is this even possible to import...

Well our drawing checker is now saying he wants to see us using rectangles to show where the detail is because it is cleaner. But at the same time we want to start getting into ASME standards for our drawings as we are going to be sending more and more stuff out to vendors. We have been using...
We are having a bit of a problem here identifying how a detail view should be shown. Solidworks defaults to a complete full round circle and we use a leader to identify which detail it is by letter. Then you have your scaled up detail "B" lets say down below the part. Well we have an old school...
