    MAWP and Design Pressure

Thanks SnTMan & MikeG7. So to conclude, as per footnote 36, it is not mandatory for the designer to calculate the MAWP of the system. Instead one can limit the MAWP of the system to design pressure and use the same to calculate Hydrotest.

    MAWP and Design Pressure

I am currently checking an fixed tube heat exchanger design with the help of Compress as per Section VIII . Since I am restricted to using standard pipes due to availability for Shell and Nozzle material, the MAWP of the said HX is 3 times higher than that of the design pressure and the nozzle...

Relation between Minimum Leak Path and Minimum weld throat for Tube to tubesheet joint

Considering the welds are subjected to tensile loads equal to tube strength, how can we establish the leak path?

Relation between Minimum Leak Path and Minimum weld throat for Tube to tubesheet joint

I have calculated the minimum required throat as per UW-20 sketch (d) full strength joint, but I am not able to establish a relation with the minimum leak path and the throat. The ASME Section IX requries "minimum leak path dimension required by the design". Thanks Kunal

Relation between Minimum Leak Path and Minimum weld throat for Tube to tubesheet joint

Hello, I need to establish a relation between minimum leak path dimension (Section IX) and minimum weld throat (Section VIII Div-1 UW 20) for Tube to tube sheet joint. Does anyone have any literature pertaining to it? Thanks, Kunal

Change in Groove angle for UW 20.1 Sketch (d)

Thanks Mike. Although I do agree that there is no particular restriction on the angle, all the sketches, both vertical and horizontal dimensions are indicated as 'ag'. which made me come to the conclusion that the angle is bound to 45 deg. Just wanted to make sure that increasing the angle...

Change in Groove angle for UW 20.1 Sketch (d)

Is there a provision in Section VIII to increase the groove angle from 45 deg to 60 deg for configuration UW 20.1 (d)?
