    Subsea Standards

John, thanks for responding....I was in particular interested in the high strength fasteners for flange connection and other dynamically stressed bolts and nuts. Any idea? TM

    Pump Air Bubble

Druck, currently thinking in using several 'tap-in' points with various valves to be able to circulate in multiple flow paths one at the time. That should be feasible but probably not the best solution. jonralph, nope - can not use a pig because there are filters in the system. I have...

Where can I find the Loss Coefficient (k) for bends below 90 degrees?

Hi mtroche, hope this helps, it's in SI units: TM --------------------------------------------- Loss factor for pipe fittings and bends: dp = 0.5 * k * roh * v^2 dp [MPa] differential pressure k [ ] coefficient factor roh [kg/m^3] density v [m/s] velocity...

    Excel chart axis length

Another way (easy and not sophisticated) is to add a line, double click the line and size it to the required length, then pull the chart to the length of the line, delete the line and voila! TM

    API 610 vs. API 6AF

Thanks to all of you for your input. I will purchase the guidelines. TM

    Pump Air Bubble

TCrush, I will have an outside pump that I can elevate above the bends if necessary. I guess this is were you were heading...? When pumping with the mentioned 2 ft/s there will be the fluid flow in the downwards direction after the 180 bends but the taken air bubbles will tend to rise again...

    Pump Air Bubble

tstead, thanks for asking this questions. I should have noted in my initial question that I am restricted by the design to choose this very unfavourable layout. I did some further calculations - with a 5 gpm flow rate I end up with turbolent flow with a velocity of around 2 ft/s. My gut feeling...

    Pump Air Bubble

I hope someone out there is able to help me on this question: This is in regard to a cooling loop configuration. I have 1" ID vertical pipes with 180 deg bends on top/bottom. The top ones will most likely accumulate entrapped air after initial filling. The pipe is filled with water-glycol...

    API 610 vs. API 6AF

Can someone please explain to me API 610. API 6AF shows graphs where a pipe flange limitation can be read out. One can determine under a specific set of bore pressure and tension load a maximum bending moment or visa versa depending on how one like to read the charts. This is understandable...

    Hollow Spheres

try http://www.3m.com/microspheres/index.html I used this web site for glass spheres but don't know if they have aluminium spheres as well. regards TM

    Water Hammer

Luiz, try this link for all sorts of hydraulic calculation: http://www.lmnoeng.com/index.shtml Also a very understandable book: REA's: "The Fluid Mechanics and Dynamics Problem Solver" If you are really into pipe work and would go deeper than the above I recommend: Larock, Jeppson...

    Heat transfer in subsea environment

Thanks for the fast reply, Steven. The fluid is not likely to freeze at these temperatures. If I remember right it's about -20°C when its starts to get solid. But at 4°C it's already high viscose. I have read that if the fluid is not (at all) moved around/away from the cooling loop that the...

    Heat transfer in subsea environment

Steven, Everyone, what would be the heat transfer in a cooling loop that is wrapped around an electrical submerged motor in a subsea environment? The motor is producing a significant heat (9kW) that is transported out of the motor casing into the cooling loop by a shaft driven centrifugal pump...

    Subsea Standards

Can someone direct me to helpful subsea steel material-specifications or standards? I am specially interested in designing safety towards "environmentally assisted cracking" and in particular "hydrogen embrittlement". regards TM

Centrifugal pump selection for dissolved gases on stream

What would be if the charge pressure is high enough - would cavitation be still a problem? TM

    Seawater Pumping

Ladies and Gentlemen, is there any concern on seawater pumping with positive displacement pumps like piston or diaphragm type pumps? I am interested in the seawater effects that drive the corrosion of the material (oxygen, biomaterial). Are there other and are there any preventive means to...
