What are the barrier to run a process at 600bar 1700C

Alternatevely run the process at high temperatures (1700C) at mild pressures (5 bars) and quench the product mixture, below NaOH boiling point (1350C), to prevent NaOH for recombining with SO2. jari001 (Chemical) you are right but I know more expensive process than this one to make caustic.

What are the barrier to run a process at 600bar 1700C

@ LittleInch (Petroleum) ...but how you transport...? The molten material could be transported using a refractory line pipe http://www.sunnysteel.com/ceramic-lined-pipe.php#.V7XRj_krKJA The steel shell of the lined pipe will be exposed to about 500C. It should be able to handle 600bars without...

What are the barrier to run a process at 600bar 1700C

I was simulating an acqueous reaction (Na2SO4+H2O<=>2NaOH+SO2) and got a maximum rate at 600bar 1700C. What are potential physical (not economical) limitations that could prevent the design/development of such a process. The final product has to be cooled down to 200C. Thank you all for your...

    Multivariate Analysis?

Thanks Gentlemen for your kind contribution. @GregLocock (Automotive) Your problem statement is exact and quite elegant as you uses fewer word! Thanks. (1) is there a way of coupling the standard deviation with the flow rate... A kind of "weighted" standard deviation? (2) I will share the...

    Multivariate Analysis?

@GregLocock (Automotive) You will have fun practicing your talent for aggressiveness at your home. As stated earlier wording hints about I.Q. and emotional maturity This post is meant to enhance the knowledge sharing of this forum. Here is the problem statement: As shown on attached...

    Multivariate Analysis?

Trends are data and consumption patterns are "information". A sample of "real life" trend is attached. That's what we, Engineers, are tuning into executive information... Once again "If you have the measurements, you "DON'T" have the...

    Multivariate Analysis?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ @IRstuff (Aerospace) wordings tells a lot about I.Q. but we're digressing here... Let's bring the discussing back on track... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Can...

    Multivariate Analysis?

Integrating the flow will not reveal the frequency at which a given user is affecting the overall flow!? At best total ("integral") flows per users will help build a Pareto Chart which was mentioned in the Original Post. Is PCA the best way of classifying user while determining the pattern at...

    Multivariate Analysis?

IRStuff " Just measuring the usage" gives discrete flow rates but I'm not sure how "consumption pattern" can be revealed by time series of flow rates. Thanks

    Multivariate Analysis?

I have have a flow of reagent (Methanol) entering 21 process users across my plant. Some users uses the Methanol as fuel others as solvent and some as reagents... Could one suggest the best way of knowing/classifying these users are causing High methanol usage during a given period? I'm thinking...

Calculate the Theoretical Minimum Steam Flow to a Condensing Steam Turbine

@racookpe1978 "to guarantee stable operation" free of vibration and wet steam. The goal of the post if to have a "systematic" method based on turbine geometry. @snoopnoon Exhaust temperatures are below 45C (113F) and wet. Bearing temperature are stable... and vibration occurs. Could one share...

Calculate the Theoretical Minimum Steam Flow to a Condensing Steam Turbine

Could one share his approach in "Calculating the Theoretical Minimum Steam Flow to a Condensing Steam Turbine"? The web is full of "artistic" comments of this minimum flow to be about 25% rating of full-load limits. But one help elaborate on a methodical way of computing (Mathematical...

"Installed Valve Characteristic" vs "inherent valve characteristic" is it compar

Is the a rational explanation why DP across a given valve at a given flow rate and opening will be different than when this same valve is installed in a system with Pump, Elbow and restriction? I'm trying to comprehend the notion of "Installed Valve Characteristic" vs "inherent valve...

what can makes a generator vibrate more as load decreases

@electricpete (Electrical) Thank you for such a clear statement! Under your scenario, if transmitted torque were to move stationary parts then Vibration will increase with shaft torque. But in this case vibration are higher (2.5MILLS) at 8MWh. @djs (Electrical) In my case the vibration amplitude...

what can makes a generator vibrate more as load decreases

Hi Guys, This is a real life situation involving persons of different backgrounds (operators, managers, engineers, acountants, technicians..). Thank you for you kind responses... But a clear and insightfull explanation is still missing. Here again is the question: Since the frequency on the...

what can makes a generator vibrate more as load decreases

@BYRDJ Thank you for your kind answer. I don't understand the full extend of your response... It's seems like you pointing out a thermal sensitivity of a field? (Magnetic? Electric?). Temperatures in the generator bearing are very low (below 60C). Do you still believe that "thermal vector" will...

what can makes a generator vibrate more as load decreases

I have a 45MWh generator that's showing a 3 mills of vibration ampliture when operating below 8MWh. The vibration will reduce to 1.2 Mills as soon as power production exceeds 8MWh. It's clean to my mind that torque produce by the Prime mover(steam turbine) will increase the load angle and...

Overall Efficiency when cofiring multiple fuels

3 Boilers all capable of firing coal/hog fuel (wood bark)/Natural Gas. The thermal efficiency study was done by observing the each boiler burning 100% off respective fuel. During normal operation, the amount and ratio of each fuel (especially Nat. Gas) depends on Power Price and outages...

Overall Efficiency when cofiring multiple fuels

    - I have 3 boilers feeding steam to a main header at 10000kPag/475C... which feeds 1 BPTG@100MVAR and 1 CTG@75MVAR. - The solid are fire through Stokers, The Natural Gas is through 8 burners controlled by alstom flame pilots. - The system is for electric power production and process steam...

Overall Efficiency when cofiring multiple fuels

The coal is fine with low moisture content (from QC lab). I suspect that the coal feeder might be unreliable. So I was trying to back calculate the coal mass flow rate using boiler energy output with the two other know fuel flow rate and heating values.
