    API 653. Tank shell deformation

I have had a look at API579, the out of roundness is not constant along the axis and has to be classified as general distortion. This requires level 3 assessment which in reality will be FEA. I was just after some guidance as to what others in the industry were using. I will use the API 653...

    Atmospheric storage tank shell deformation

Posted this in ASME code issues section, but perhaps this is a more appropriate forum. What criteria do you use for assessment of deformations to the tank shell for in-service storage tanks? API 650 & 653 give construction tolerances for new build and reconstructed tanks. Is the same criteria...

    API 653. Tank shell deformation

What criteria do you use for assessment of deformations to the tank shell for in-service storage tanks? API 650 & 653 give construction tolerances for new build and reconstructed tanks. Is the same criteria applied to in-service tanks or are there other assessments that can be done.

    PN Flange test pressure

Can anyone tell if the maximum test pressure is stated in the latest standard for PN designated flanges (BS EN1092-1 2007) Previous std (BS 4504) stated 1.5 x nominal pressure rating. I cannot find any reference to maximum hydrotest pressure in the latest standard.

    Combined Thermal & Presssure Fatigue

Does anyone have any views on this? Just trying to get a feel of how others tackle the problem of fatigue due to combined pressure and thermal cycling. The approach we have taken is to use ASME VIII Div 2 App 5 for the pressure fatigue. Calculated the thermal transient stresses at nozzles in...
