    I need to determine the dimensions for a hole pattern on a turret. I checked the operations manual for the lathe and they dont give the dimensions in there. I was just curious what an accurate method for measuring by hand would be?

    I am designing some jaw nuts for some chucks and was wondering what type of steel would be good for this application. My thoughts were maybe a case hardened 8620 or perhaps 4140. Thanks for any help.
