    Krautkamer

The only thing I saw the tech. input was the length of the bolt! I was surprised. We did have the new bolts on hand which he checked also. We are sending out the removed bolts for further examination. Thanks for the responce.

    Krautkamer

I recently found 2 loose bolts on a slew-ring, both were cracked! We were not allowed by the manufacturer to remove the other 157 bolts because of the load on it. A Krautkamer USN 50L was used to perform test on the bolts in place. (bolts are 12.9 - 30mm 11" long) Question: How reliable is...

    Bolt head "letter" identification

Looking for info on a grade 8 ( 1" shaft dia. ) with the letters "BY" on center of head. What's the BY stand for? Also this bolt was used instead of a required grade 10.9 ( 27mm / 1" 1/8 shaft dia. ) on a critical structure. What magnitude of danger if any would this pose ? Thanks

    Anti-Sway Crane control

Waross Being a crane operator for over 30 years I am impressed with your description of how a crane operator catches the drift in the hook. You must have some seat time in you past. Your statement, “unless a crane has a rapid response, the operator doesn't have a chance.” Is again, Right On...

    Motor IR testing

jtkirb What about the rotor ( 3 wire ) Would you need to ground them while megging the stator THANKS : jtkirb and electricpete

    Motor IR testing

I have been searching the web for some "basic" guide lines to follow on doing a insulation resistance test on motors. I seem to be getting inconsistent procedures on test voltage range and in particularly "lead placement". For insistence: I have read test voltage range <1000v = 500vdc range...

    Motor Circuit Analysis Equipment

electricpete I've been looking at the alltest pro-31 instead of buying a traditional megger. My use would be primarily for troubleshooting motor control circuits, (electric crane) 5 to 125 hp, 480 - 3 phase. Can you or anyone else give an opinion or suggestion. I don't mind spending a little...

    crane control question [urgent]

It seems to me that a contactor controlling a resistor bank would not cause a current spike. And being that all steps but 2nd are working properly I would suspect that the resistor run for 2nd step is shorted. ( Crane tech in training )

    Motor analyzer

I'm thinking of buying a All-Test Pro 31 instead of a quality megger. Does anyone have any first-hand experience with one. Here's a link with some info; http://www.reliabilitydirect.com/motormonitor/pdf/AT31.pdf

    why is this motor working

Crane equipped with 2 swing motors; WRIM with eddy current brake; 3 phase, 480v, Y connected One motor is wired with stator going to rotor and rotor going to stator. Also there are no internal motor wires going to bridged post / star point.(6 wires) other motor has 9 How, and why is this motor...

    Wound Rotor Induction Motor

ATVARGAS I haven't been able to find who tinkerd with this crane last. Only one row of (3)resistors ( out of 12 rows )was skipped. I'm not sure if this was done intentionally. The motor was for sure wired backwards ( stator to rotor / rotor to stator ) and to boot it worked this way for almost 6...

    Wound Rotor Induction Motor

The motor in question is a Patay hoist motor,105 hp with eddy-current brake(1st 2 steps)and large external resistance bank. The problem was hoist motor running very slow along with deep growling noise only in 1st and 2nd step ( 5 steps hoist ). Runs good in 3rd thru 5th I'm a technician in...

    Wound Rotor Induction Motor

When looking in the motor terminal box ( WRIM ) is it correct to assume that the group of wires with the ground is the stator. And can the rotor be wired wye or delta. THANKS
