    Hi, mc5w: It can be done with 12 slots for 8 pole 3 phase( there are also 8 poles in the rotor). Fractional slot has to be used, i.e., one slot contains conductors from different windings (e.g. phase A and phase B). It is the winder who told me it is impossible to get a balanced 2 phase winding.

    Thanks, ScottyUK, but it needs to rewind to a two phase motor so that we can test a new idea. I thought to use Phase A as D winding and phase B and C in series to form Q winding. However, there might be 3rd harmonic in phase A, which is not desired. I am still thinking. Tanglx
