In addition to my first reply, adequate area must also be maintained at the top of the steam boiler for proper steam separation giving you a higher quality "dry steam". (manufacturers' words, not mine.)
Overfill protetion is legislated in some areas. In Ontario Canada, it is a provincial requirement that high water level shutdown be in place to prevent the burner from operating if the water level is 25 to 50% over the operating hash mark on the feedwater control.
You are aaabsolutely right in...
Mike,
We've tried that with no success. Boilers are located at various locations throughout the city and this fouling only happens on the largest heat exchanger. 3,000 MBH.
System is a closed loop heating circuit. Fresh water from the city would only be introduced if the system had a leak...
There is not enough information to properly diagnois the breach and vent connector conditions. Diameters, eight and design criteria are necessary.
However, one thing to check that is a common error made when barometrics dampers are installed is the sleeve the baromentric is installed in. I...
The strainer was installed at the time of boiler installation. Unfortunately it is not always the return tubes, it's both supply and return.
During non firing mode, the boiler vessel is still under pressure, (15psig) but the flow stops. The tubes are never empty.
The fluid is water and the...
I have three vertical copper finned boilers each with an output rating of 2,650,000. Flow through the exchanger is 250 usgpm with a delta 'P' of 2.25 psi. Each vessel is individually pumped and circulator shuts off during 'non firing' mode. Each exchanger has 84 tubes (42 down, 42 up) and...
Boiler manufacturers have the last say in barometric dampers. It depends on their UL approval. Using condensing boilers though, you are probably running a positive stack with AL29-4C venting (BH series).
In most cases barometric dampers are not allowed due to the positive draft however (cat...
