    Geostatic

I have a 50mx25m section of Clay analysed in Plane Strain. It's density is *Density 1977., (kg/m3) So therefore I specify the initial geostatic stress condition as *INITIAL CONDITIONS, TYPE=STRESS, GEOSTATIC LCESET,0,25,-485000,0,2 As 25x1977x9.81=484859 N/m2 Gravity is specified as...

    Computer restarts during analysis

Assuming your code is fine Your processor might be getting too hot and your computer settings might shut the computer down automatically to save the processor. Check that airflows are clear around the CPU and that your out-take fans are not backed up against a wall.

Two soils parts with a contact surface

So I have gone back to a static/elastic analysis. I am able to apply a surface load of 9.81kpa but whenever I try to run gravity it just shuts me out. See attached with fake gravityhttp://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=508bafef-9774-4e5d-9aae-ce23e395ad1d&file=Test.inp

Two soils parts with a contact surface

Hi Anna I am running a 3D half space analysis (should have mentioned), as far as I can see I can only partition edges, faces and cells. The reason I need to use parts is that in the end I want to run a foundation test modelling the actual foundation as it has a complex geometry so merely...

Two soils parts with a contact surface

Hello I have two soil blocks: one is large (clay) and the other is small (gravel). The gravel block is embedded in the clay block. Since I am using a half space the clay and gravel blocks have a free face which is restrained in the x direction. The sides surfaces of the clay block are...
