Hey all, I'm trying to create an orthogonal cutting simulation and I want the chip formation zone to be eulerian while the rest stays lagrangian. I attempted to specify a eulerian boundary condition/boundary region on the desired region but got the following error: "Eulerian boundary can only be...
Hello, although I do not understand your current problem I am also experiencing difficulties creating a 2D orthogonal cutting simulation in Explicit. In particular, I wish to specify a eulerian mesh domain near the cutting edge but am unsure how to do this. Thank you in advance for your help!
Hey all,
I was wondering how you determine the value for elastic slip stiffness in Abaqus. I'm attempting to model orthogonal cutting and chip formation and I noted that the chip wasn't sliding up the tool once contact was made. Changing the elastic slip stiffness from "no slip" to a value began...
Hey All,
I'm trying to model 2D orthogonal cutting and chip formation in 6.12 Abaqus/Explicit. I'm attempting to implement ALE adaptive meshing constraints to my model but keep on running into the following errors:
"Adaptive mesh constraints may only be defined for one degree of freedom for the...
Do you have an appropriate interaction property defined? Also this tutorial may be relevant in helping your cutting simulation (there are 2 parts).

Hello All,
I'm currently working on an orthogonal cutting simulation and I've been experiencing the error that elements have zero or negative mass in addition to excessively distorted elements. I've confirmed that the Johnson Cook model parameters that I'm using are correct and I have damage...
I have tried MPC constraints and unfortunately they do not even register the rotational stress patter. My units are consistent with those of orthogonal cutting simulations I have done in the past, so I don't think they are the problem. Any more help is greatly appreciated!
Sorry, forgot the .cae file. I run version 6.12 by the way. Thanks!http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=f50de261-b719-44cd-b572-f08e261029ca&file=Jeremy_Turning_Simulation_1.cae
I believe that it is constrained properly, although I could be wrong. I've attached the .inp and .cae files. If anybody can help me out in finding the error I'd appreciate it greatly.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=8605f492-26c6-44af-94f7-6c57275b2277&file=Jeremy-Turning-Job-1.inp
Hey all,
I'm currently attempting to create a simple 3D turning simulation in Abaqus Explicit. My problem is with regards to actually making the workpiece (a wheel) rotate. I'm attempting to accomplish this by defining a reference point in the center of the wheel (it looks like a doughnut so...
