The Tar is to be removed next year and the areas can be fully tested from the surface, what we are trying to do is plan our resources as we have a narrow time frame to carry out repairs when the tar is removed.
Unfortunately the trapezoidal section is not large enough for an inspector to crawl...
it is cracking we are expecting, we would expect these cracks through the whole bridge surface but cannot remove the tar surface to check from the top.
Hi All
I have a problem where a trapezoidal channel has been welded to the underside of a bridge surface, the upper surface has a layer of tar that cannot be removed. We have been asked to carry out a NDT on the area where the surface meets the channel on the inside. See attached
Does anyone...
Thanks Metenger, do you know of a procedure for stress relieveing a weld on site where access is difficult, would it be possible to heat a component using oxy/propane and allow the component to cool naturally?
I have a component made from Carbon steel, it is assembled from a cold formed cone welded onto 2 backing flanges with webs welded between both flanges, we would like to stress relieve this component prior to machining to prevent distortion, can anyone suggest what temperature this should be...
Distilled water has a chlorine demand, that is a fact, if you dilute the sample some of the free chlorine will be used up by this demand. The total chlorine stays the same, the free chlorine in the sample is reduced, there are ways of controlling this demand by chlorinating the distilled water...
You will also have to take into account the Chlorine demand; you would loose accuracy if you dilute the sample, try to get different reagents for your free chlorine monitor.
