Dear forumeers, IEC Standards: In a TN-C earthing system can the PEN conductor be grounded at the power center side in lieu of at the transformer side? If yes, what are the pros and cons of the two options? Can it be grounded both at transformer and at the power center ? Thanks in advance.

    peer-to-peer communication between PLC's ControlLogix

Hello everybody, I have two PLC’s ControlLogix and need to exchange some data peer-to-peer. The data (about ten words from plc 1 to plc 2 and ten vice-versa) consist of time-critical data such as interlocks and setpoints, therefore I cannot/do not want to use Ethernet/IP explicit messages. On...

    Isolation contactor on VFD

I'm designing a machine for the US market. Is it mandatory an IC in case of E-stops? I've seen several E-stop circuits relying just on a digital input of the VFD. Is this allowed by the norms ? My E-stop is a controlled stop so the IC - if needed - will drop just once the motor is standstill. If...

    Using VFD with slip-ring motors

We have a 3ph 44kW slipring motor been used on a turnover cooling bed of a billet caster. The motor is presently controlled thru a multi-tapped rotor resistors system. Our customer would like to get rid from such old stuff replacing it with a VFD, shorting the sliprings. What are the draw-backs...
